Paul Wunderlich

Paul Wunderlich (born March 10, 1927 in Eberswalde; died June 6, 2010 in Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols, Provence) was a German painter, draftsman, sculptor, and graphic artist. He is considered the most important representative of "Fantastic Realism" in Germany.
After an early realistic creative phase, he developed the style characteristic of him from 1959. His works often address vitality, sexuality, death, and transience. Impulses from various art movements inspired Wunderlich in his works in the 60s. Lithographs comprise the largest part of his work.
