Max Papart
Painting · Graphics · Editions
MAX PAPART was born in 1911 in Marseille and died in 1994 in Paris. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Marseille, he continued his education on his own. In 1936 Papart came to Paris and devoted himself exclusively to painting.
In 1945 he traveled to Italy and learned the techniques of lithography and etching there. His perfect mastery of these techniques led to his appointment as a professor at the University of Vincennes (Paris) in 1969.
In his works, whether oil or graphic, he developed a post-cubist, abstract painting imbued with plastic motifs. He renounced any approximation to reality.
