Udo Nolte was born on May 16, 1950 in Dortmund.
After leaving school, he studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund from 1969 to 1973. After graduating in 1973, he went to the Ruhr University Bochum and attended lectures at the Art History Institute until 1978.
Since 1979 he has been working as a freelance artist, focusing on etchings.
